Lymes’ Senior Center Board of Directors Meeting

March 19, 2018


PRESENT:  Jeri Baker, Gary Weed, Dot McAndrew, Doris Hungerford, Doris Johnson,  Joni Bonvicin, Diana Seckla, Don Abraham

ABSENT:  Sue Campbell, Kathy Lockwood, Stephanie Lyon-Gould, Ann Griffith, Johnny Cody

CALL TO ORDER:  Jeri Baker at 1:00

GUESTS:  Katherine Balocca, Co-President, Martha Shoemaker, past Co-President of the Friends of Music addressed the members present.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:   A motion to accept January, 2017 minutes  with correction to Special Events - changing  Stephanie and Jeri Baker”will be reaching out “ to “may reach out” - was called for by Gary Weed.  Unanimous approval.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Doris Hungerford - Treasurer’s Report tabled until next month.

COMMUNICATIONS:  Andrea Fenton send an email expressing an interest in the garden.
Jeri Baker read a thank you note from Karen.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

        Director’s Notes:  Stephanie Lyon-Gould (read by Jeri Baker) - A special thank you to all who helped with the St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon and Irish Dancer Performance.
The Commission on Aging is now meeting the second Friday of the month at 1:00 pm.  Many ideas on helping seniors were brainstormed at the last meeting.
A new Cardio Strength Training class will be starting on Tues. April 17th at 5:00.  The Center now offers three after hour fitness classes and two early morning classes.
A lifelong learning college level class “The American West: History, Myth, and Legacy” will begin April 13th from 1:00 - 2:15 pm and run for 12 weeks.  

        Building Use:  Gary Weed:  The furnace was out on Friday.  Phil, maintenance, has been contacted.


OLD BUSINESS:

        Memorial Bricks and Dedication Ceremony:  Jeri Baker - Suggested new dates for the Dedication Ceremony are June 12, 19, or the 26th at 1:00.  
The list of names to be added to the list is currently being finalized as the bricks take approximately a month for engraving.  The families of the people being honored will need to be contacted, food will need to be arranged and the Chaplin of the Firehouse is being asked to speak briefly at the Dedication.

NEW BUSINESS:

        Membership policy education/notification:  Jeri Baker - The new Membership Policy includes compliance and appeals procedures.  All new members will receive a copy.  Print copies are available at the Center near the front desk for current membership.  The policies will also be added to the Center’s and the Towns’ websites.  

ADJOURN:  Meeting adjourned at 1:45.  Gary Weed moved to adjourn.  Diane Sekla seconded.  Unanimous approval.
